STEM 2024 Information & Checklist
Please note that the application process is electronic. Be sure to read and follow the list below checking off the steps as you have completed them. For your reference, the website address is as follows: Application - XLR8 Academy

Who can apply? Rising juniors in the spring of their sophomore year
Location: Campus of Central Virginia Community College (earn up to 44 college credits)
Areas of Study: Engineering/Mechatronics, Biotechnology/Health Science or Cybersecurity

_____Discuss with your parents & read brochure
_____Apply to CVCC to obtain your CVCC ID number
_____Fill out the STEM Academy application form online (link above)
_____Request online recommendations from three current teachers (1 math, 1 science, & 1 other). *Make sure you are professional when you make your requests. *follow-up on recommendations, as they must be turned in on time or your application will be considered incomplete.
_____Request, via email, for Mrs. Anderson to complete the School Counselor form; use Mrs. Anderson’s email address: evette.anderson@campbell.k12.va.us
*Incomplete applications will be returned to students for corrections; however, you must still meet your deadline
*Placement into a program is also based on transcripts and/or assessment scores (PSAT/ VA placement etc.)
*Applications are due to the School Counseling office no later than February 23, 2024;

An information Session is scheduled for February 1st, 2024, from 6:00p.m.-7:30p.m. Registration link is available on the STEM Academy website. Session will provide more details regarding requirements.
