Celebrate the holidays Rustburg style with our holiday spirit week December 18-20!

Monday is winter character day, Tuesday is red and green day, and Wednesday is festive hat and sweater day. All spirit day attire must be in dress code. 

The Reading Room will be open Tomorrow, and Thurs. mornings of this week in room E211, Mrs. Moran's room.

Just a reminder to continue to bring in canned goods and/or monetary donations for REAP.  Our kindness acts of the week are the following:

Tuesday:  Offer hugs to your loved ones and friends.  

Wednesday:  Give a compliment to as many people as possible today.

Thursday:  Leave a happy note for someone.  

Friday:  Make a card or decoration for someone special.  

Guidance

Attention 10th graders:  Your permission slip to go on the Tech Center field trip is due today.  Turn it in to the Counseling Office or your English 10 teacher.

Clubs

The MAC Club (the new Kindness Club) meeting has been moved from Tuesday the 12th to Wednesday the 13th before school at 7:35

Any seniors interested in running for class office, don't forget that applications are due tomorrow, December 13. Check your school email or see Ms. Rierson with any questions. 

The Spanish Club "Navidad" party will be tomorrow, December 13th, in the conference room.  Bring a $5 wrapped gift if you would like to participate in the gift exchange.  Mrs. Solórzano will be making Abuelita (ah-boo-way-lee-ta) hot chocolate so bring cookies if you would like.  Please sign up with a Spanish teacher if you plan to attend.  Gracias!

Sports

The Rustburg High School Choral Department presents..."Winter Wonderland" Concert, Tonight, Dec 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.  Please bring a canned good for the REAP collection! 

The Symphonic Band will practice tomorrow from 3:00-4:00 pm and the Marching Band will practice from 4:00-4:30 pm following the Symphonic Band tomorrow.

The band of Rustburg HS and MS will be presenting their annual "Sounds of the Season" performance on Thursday evening in the auditorium beginning at 7:00 pm.  The concert is free and open to public.

Girls Soccer Conditioning to be held Thursday this week.  Thursday will be at 3:15 on the practice field.

Rustburg's girls defeated Northside, Nelson County and Prince Edward in a quad meet last night. Samira Ingram finished 3rd in the 500-meter dash, Jordan Mayberry won the 1000 meter run and Summer Wolhford placed 3rd in the 500-meter dash.

Rustburg's boys finished 2nd in the quad meet: Jaylin Jones won the shot put, Josh Dudley won the triple jump and Chase Hudson won the 1mile.

Chorus Concert is tomorrow night at 7pm

Students, you are not allowed in the lunch line unless you are buying lunch, ice cream, or drinks.  Bookbags are not allowed in the lunch line.

A reminder to bring in your canned goods to donate for REAP.  Our kindness act for today is to pick up litter around the school.

Girls Soccer conditioning at 3:15 today.  

Rustburg's Girls Track Team defeated LCA,Heritage,Brookville and Liberty in a track meet on Tuesday night. Leah Eick placed 2nd in the 300 meter and 3rd in the 55-meter dash. Gabrielle Mosley placed 4th in the shot put and Grace Phillips placed 2nd in the 500 meters.

The Boys finished 2nd: Dacoda Gilbert won the 55-meter dash and Devon Watts placed 3rd in the 300-meter dash. Joshua Dudley placed 4th in the triple jump.

Congrats to the girl’s JV basketball team in their win over William Campbell 41-6. Laney Scharnus led with 12 points and Meah Coles added 6 points.  Great job ladies!!!

As part of our continued focus on kindness, we will be highlighting acts of kindness throughout December.  I attached a Kindness Calendar you may have seen on social media.  We will be completing these acts throughout the next few weeks.  Feel free to post the calendar in your room and join in!  Here are our kindness acts of the week:

Monday-Friday:  Accepting monetary and food donations for our local food bank (REAP)

Tuesday:  Count how many people you smile at today

Wednesday:  Do something helpful for a friend or family member

Thursday:  Pick up litter around the school

Friday:  Say something positive to everyone you meet today

Girls Soccer Conditioning to be held today and Thursday of this week starting at 3:15 on the practice field.  Players should have proper equipment and an up-to-date physical to participate

1st track meet of the season. Rustburg’s Girls defeated Heritage and Amherst in a tri-meet. Trinity Lamberth won the long and triple jump. She also qualified for the State Track Championship in both events. Parker Goldstein won the high jump and qualified for States in the event. Autumn Smith also qualified for States in the high jump.

Ryan Fore placed 2nd in the 55 hurdles and Decoda Gilbert placed in the long jump. Bradley Wiggs placed 2nd in the 1mile.
