  • Students that attended CVCC need to turn their books into Mr. Cartwright by Wednesday, May 22nd. 

 

Guidance  

  • Good Luck to the AP students taking the Government, World History and Statistics exam today. After announcements those taking the Government exam will report to room G103, and World History exam is in rooms E217 and E218 (be sure to check your instructions sheets for the correct room)
  • Just a reminder that there is AP testing upstairs in the foreign language hallway. Please be sure to keep the noise level down
  • Any students interested in signing up for the driving range the week of June 17th, please see Ms. Trent by the end of sschool.

Clubs

  • Seniors:  Baccalaureate is this Sunday, May 19th at 6PM.  Seniors should arrive by 5:40. This is a Cap and Gown dress event.  There will be a small reception after the service. You are allowed to wear any cords or honor sashes you have already received. Also, you do NOT need to have a junior present. The senior officers will explain the candle lighting before the service begins.

 

Sports   

  • There will be spring football practice on Monday, May 20th through Thursday, May 23rd at RHS. All boys interested in playing football in the fall should plan to attend. Please meet in the locker room immediately following school. You will need a ride at 6:00. Please see Coach Baker for any question.

  • Just a reminder for Mr. Elder's 1st period class, y'all will be reporting to room G207 today and tomorrow. Please be sure to bring your textbook before reporting to G207.

  • Poet’s Club will have their last meeting today (May 15th) in Ms. Slate’s room.

  • The theater department invites any student interested in seeing the stage production of INTO THE WOODS the musical at Liberty University, this Thursday May 16th at 7:00pm, the cost is only $1 for each RHS student.  
  • Please bring your money and sign up ASAP in Ms V's room A109.

Guidance  

  • Calling all performers: dancers, singers, musicians, actors, garage bands, jugglers, comedians, ect.!  Rustburg is proud to announce auditions for the Rustburg's Got Talent Show!  Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office with Mrs. La Roche.  Please keep in mind that acts should be no longer than 3 minutes each.  Auditions will be held after school on Wednesday, May 8th.
  • Good luck to the students taking the Environmental Science AP exam today at 11:45am in room G103. Remember if you are taking an afternoon exam and normally eat 3rd lunch you need to eat during 2nd lunch. This exam is expected to end around 3:20pm.

Clubs

  • The last Spanish Club meeting of the school year will be on Thursday, May 9th. 
  • We will break a piñata with lots of candy!  Please let your Spanish teacher know if you can attend.  
  • Poet’s Club will have their last meeting on May 15th in Ms. Slate’s room.
  • The French Alliance Writing Contest awards ceremony was held yesterday, and 11 students won top awards for their essays.  

                In Level 2, Maria Victoria placed 2nd, Elisa Madero placed 3rd, and Kiersten Dunn placed 4th.  

                In Level 3, Alicia Grant placed 1st, Carly Hudnall placed 2nd, and Sarah Culver received an Honorable                                Mention. 

                In Level 4, Candace Wilson placed 2nd, Katie Kurtz placed 3rd, and David Johnson placed 4th.  

                In Level 5, Sydney Nolley placed 3rd and Brycen Stratton  won Honorable Mention.

                Congratulations to these students and to the 21 other RHS students who were finalists.

 

Sports   

  • “Congratulations to Gage Bomar for competing in Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Association National Tournament this weekend.  Gage placed 7th in his weight class and has officially earned the status as a defending NATIONAL All-American wrestler!”

  • Liberty University is offering a FREE week-long summer camp for Aviation Maintenance for rising 9th-12th graders.  You would live on campus for a week and all meals are included.  During the camp you will work on hands-on maintenance projects, fly in state of the art flight simulators, take two flights in an actual airplane, and more. See Mrs. La Roche for more details. 

 

  • Looking to be a leader? Come to the library to get an application to be a peer tutor. Applications are due by May 3rd. 

 

  • We will celebrate all of our Seniors on Friday!  Seniors, please wear something that represents the college, career path, or military branch you have chosen for your future on Friday.  Faculty, please celebrate with our students by wearing something that represents your alma mater.

  • AP students taking an AP exam please bring a number 2 pencil to the auditorium during 3rd period and no mechanical pencils are allowed.
  • Attention Juniors and Seniors:  The Southern Landscape Short Course application is due Friday to the Counseling Office.
  • The next SAT Prep Session is tomorrow (Friday, April 26) from 6th through 7th period in the Conference Room.  The last prep session is Saturday, April 27 from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the Tech Center.  Sign up in the Counseling Office if you are interested.

  • Attention Seniors:  If you signed up for CVCC during the Career Expo presentation, they will be here today during FLEX.  You will meet in the Conference Room.  If you did not sign up and you are interested in attending CVCC in the fall, see Mrs. Harris in the Counseling Office after morning announcements.
