Guidance  

  • Attention Rising Seniors:  CVCC is having an informational meeting on Thursday, February 21 at 6:00, Merritt Hall.  They will discuss the following programs:  Criminal Justice, Cyber Security, EMT/Paramedic, Health Science, HVAC, Machinist and Welding.  Go to the Counseling Office for additional information.
  • Students who created a CVCC account on their own for Dual Enrollment, need to turn those ID numbers to the counseling office by the end of the day today.

Clubs

  • The Art Show is tomorrow from 3:30 to 5:30. Come out to see the work of our talented artists.
  • Yearbook is once again selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts and offering the opportunity for students to earn their yearbook for FREE. From now until March 1st, if you sell 12 boxes of original glazed doughnuts, you receive your yearbook for FREE.  If you haven't ordered a yearbook but want one, now is the time.  See Mrs. Sholes for order forms and details. 

Sports  

  • All players interested in trying out for JV and Varsity baseball need to report to the commons area at 4:00 this afternoon.

  • The Sadie Hawkins Dance will be held on February 16th at RHS from 7-10pm.  Tickets will be sold today and tomorrow during lunches.  It is a semi-formal event and if you are bringing a date from another school, you must complete a date form. More information is available in the main office.  

 

Guidance  

  • Attention Juniors: If you are applying for any of these programs for next school year (Welding, Health Sciences, EMT, EMS, Cyber Security, HVAC, Machine Tool, or Criminal Justice, there will be a meeting on Wed. Feb. 13 in G110 during FLEX.
  • Attention Sophomores and Juniors: If you are applying to the Computer Networking, Computer Repair or Advanced Tech Drawing class at the Tech Center for next school year, you will also meet in G110 on Wednesday, Feb. 13 during FLEX.
  • The next SAT Prep session is this morning 1st through 2nd period in the Conference Room. Sign up in the Counseling office if interested.
  • STEM Applications and Recommendation Letters are due to the counseling office today.
  • New scholarships have been added to the Junior/Senior website.  Check them out today! 
  • The Oliver Hill/Samuel Tucker Pre-Law Institute is now accepting applications.   This week long, summer seminar is open to Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors.  The Institute is completely free to students interested in pursing a career in law.  Come see Mrs. La Roche for an application!
  • Come to the library to take the black history month challenge before school or during flex. 

Clubs

  • NHS will be selling Valentine's Candygrams at all lunches today and tomorrow. Show someone you're thinking of them with a candygram!  $.50 for a small bag, $1.00 for a large bag.  You will need to know your Valentine's 1st period teacher's name!  Money raised will go to REAP.
  • There will be a Creative Writing Club Meeting on Wednesday, February 13th from 3-4 in Mrs. Banton’s room. We will be talking about fairytales and having snacks.
  • Please bring in canned goods for REAP to your Flex teacher.  The teacher with the most canned goods at the end of February will receive juice and donuts courtesy of NHS.

Sports   

  • Any athlete interested in running Outdoor Track Coach Mosley will have a meeting this Thursday morning in the conference room. If you can't make the room please see Coach Mosley after school for more details.
  • The Dodgeball Tournament is on Thursday Feb. 21st. All team forms, with the $20 entry fee, are due on Feb. 15th. There must be a minimum of 8 teams…so turn in those forms ASAP.
  • Mrs. Simpson needs to see members of her dodgeball team ASAP to get your shirt size and collect $1.50 for the entry fee.

  • If you are applying to Early College, Governor's School or STEM, you are taking the math section of the placement test today.  Report to your testing site after morning announcements and bring your CVCC ID number if you have it.

  • There will be a Poet’s Club meeting on Wednesday, January 30th in Mrs. Slate’s room. Please bring a poem that inspires you.

  • We will be having a Spirit Night at Buffalo Wild Wings from 6-8 pm on January 21st.  15% of ticket sales will be donated to Rustburg High School.  Come by the main office to grab an event ticket, which has to be shown at BWW when you eat.  Make plans to come on out and show your Rustburg Pride!

  • Are you looking for a prom dress or want to sell your dress?  Come to the RHS PTSO Second Time Around Dress Sale on January 26th from 10am-2pm at Rustburg High School.  If you would like to sell dresses/shoes/accessories, the cost is $25 and is due to the PTSO by January 19th.  

 

Guidance 

  • Mrs. Moran's students will be MAP testing today and tomorrow. Her 7th period class will report to G110 at the beginning of 6th period today and Friday.

 

Clubs

  •  The next Spanish Club meeting will be at La Carreta on January 15th at 5:00 p.m.  Please sign up with your Spanish teacher if you plan to attend.  
  • The Spanish teachers will be taking orders for Spanish Club t-shirts from January 7th- 26th.  The shirts will cost $12 for the front design only, or $17 to also have a name on the back.  
  • French Honor Society students interested in volunteering for French Classes at Concord Elementary School, the first planning meeting will be Thursday, January 17th after school from 3-4:00.
  • There will be NHS meeting after school in the library on Jan. 14th.  Please make every effort to attend.  If you can't come, please see Mrs. Bullington for the agenda. 
  • There is a sign up sheet in the office for anyone interested in trying out for Legally Blonde Jr. Auditions will be held January 23rd and 24th from 3-5 in the auditorium. Come prepared to sing your favorite song, dance and read from the script! Any questions, see Ms. V in room A-109.

 

Sports 

  • Congrats to the girls basketball team in their win over Appomattox! Leading scorers were maria Victoria with 10 points....Alexa Ochs with 6 points and Kate Hardie with 5 points.  Great job ladies!!!

  • For anyone who has lettered in academics or athletics and is interested in purchasing a Varsity letter jacket, there will be an interest sign up sheet during all 3 lunches today.
