Guidance

  • Attention 10th, 11th and 12th graders:  There is an SAT prep session today from 6th through 7th period in the Conference room.  If you didn't sign up, you are still welcome to attend.  Check in with your teacher 6th period before you come.

  • Just a reminder for 11th and 12th graders:  There is a College Admissions Information session tonight in the library starting at 6pm.  A college admissions representative will be the presenter.

  • There is another SAT prep session at the Tech Center on Saturday, September 22 from 8:30am to 10:30 am.  You must sign up in the Counseling Office by this Wednesday if you want to attend.

  • Attention seniors: On October 10, RHS will be offering a free SAT. Please refer to your email from Mrs. Stevens for more information.

  • 11th graders: today is the last day to sign up for the PSATs. See Mrs. Stevens in the cafeteria during all lunches to sign up.

 

Clubs

  • Anyone interested who did not attend the 2020 France/Spain Trip info session please see Mrs. Cartwright for details.  Enrollment for the trip ends Wednesday, September 12th.

  • Spirit Squad- Have school spirit but not sure how to fully express your love for the school? Come on out to Spirit Squad on Fridays after school in Mr. Murtha’s room right after school till we are either done or you have to leave. Come on out and help us decorate for home games and other club activities.

  • The Robotics club will be meeting on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3-5. Come prepared to breakdown the 2018 Rover Ruckus competition.

 

Sports

  • Fall Condition will start tomorrow on the track at 3:00-4:30. Athletes must have their physicals before they can participate. For more details please Coach Mosley.

  • Reminder: All NHS applications and teacher recommendation forms are due Wednesday, Sept. 12th to Mrs. Bullington or Mrs. Burrell.

  • Attention Seniors:  If you are taking the SATs this fall, there will be a meeting this today, in the auditorium during FLEX.
  • Admissions counselors from Randolph College are visiting Rustburg today during flex in the Conference Room.  Passes for students who signed up to attend the visit will be coming around during 1st period.  Students please remember that you MUST check in with your flex teacher before coming to the visit.

  • Attention Juniors & Seniors - if you feel that you have a 3.5 GPA or higher, and did not receive a letter regarding NHS eligibility last week, please come see Mrs. Bullington. This does not apply to current members.

  • Any person that received a letter regarding NHS eligibility, there will be an informational meeting during Flex on Friday, Sept. 7th in the auditorium.  Any questions, see Mrs. Bullington.

  • Colleges are coming to Rustburg!  Admissions counselors from colleges and universities throughout the state and beyond are coming to visit and give informational presentations during Flex.  The visits start next week and are open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.  To attend, you must sign-up in the counseling office prior to the visit.  Same day sign ups will not be permitted.  In September, we have Randolph College, Longwood University, Mary Baldwin University, and James Madison University.  Sign up in the Counseling Office today!

 

Clubs

  • The Spanish Club will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, August 29th.  We will meet at 3:00 in the conference room.  Please pay $5 for dues to Mrs. Ibarra or Mrs. Solórzano before the first meeting
  • Disc Golf Club will be holding an interest meeting in Mr. Murtha's room from 3 to 3:45 pm on August 30.
  • Poets Club will meet after school in Ms. Slate’s room on August 29th from 3-4
  • There will be a student and parent interest meeting for the Summer 2020 France/Spain trip in the library at 6:30pm on Tuesday, August 28th.
  • NHS will have its first meeting for returning members on TODAY Monday, August 27th at 2:55 in Mrs. Bullington’s room. 
  • Do you want to wear a hat to school on Friday??  If so, please bring in $1 or a canned food item on Friday.  
  • Senior Portrait make-up day will be held on Wednesday, September 5th. Session times will be handed out to seniors this week. If the time slot you receive does not suit your schedule, it is imperative you see Mrs. Sholes right away. If you need to retake your portraits from the summer session, you are responsible for making an appointment, see Mrs. Sholes. This is your last chance to get your senior portraits done at the school. If senior portraits are not taken on September 5th, your portrait will not be in the yearbook.

  • Open gym for girls' basketball will be on Monday and Wednesday from 3-4:30 at the RMS

  • This year, yearbook is offering an opportunity for every student to earn their yearbook for FREE.  All you have to do is sell 12 boxes of glazed Krispy Kreme donuts. That’s it!  Orders and money are due back Friday, August 24th. Please see Mrs. Sholes with any additional questions.

 

  • The Blaze Pizza fundraiser will be on Aug. 30 from 5pm-8pm at the Lynchburg location (Target, Dicks, and Michaels shopping center) A flyer, needs to be present at the time they order on that day so that we get 20% back.

Attention Juniors: If you are enrolled in the Dual Enrollment program next school year, the parent/student meeting has been changed to today May 23 at 7:00 pm.  It will be held at Rustburg High School Auditorium.


Sports

For the cheerleaders that made the JV and Varsity Cheer leading teams, the parents and athletes meeting has been cancelled for Thursday and it is moved to June 11th, which is the first day of practice. Practice will be from 5-7 at RHS and the meeting will follow. If you have any questions, please contact coach Mitchell

The Rustburg High School Choral Department will present its Spring concert tonight at 7:00 P.M.  The music includes 50's tunes and songs from today and it's free!
