Guidance

  • Attention Seniors: The FAFSA Filing night is tonight at 6:00 pm in the library.  There will be a brief information session prior to filing the FAFSA.  Students and parents must bring their 2017 tax papers, W2's and social security numbers.

  • Any Sophomore, Junior, and Senior female students who may be interested in applying to engineering schools or pursuing a STEM career, the Society of Women Engineers program at UVA is hosting a visitation on Nov. 17th. Come by the counseling office to pick up a packet of information and application form. This is a great way for students to learn about engineering while also meeting new people and enjoying the beautiful UVA Grounds during the fall.

  • Attention sophomores and juniors taking the PSATs and seniors taking the SATs, a reminder that the test will be on Wednesday.   We will have a modified bell schedule: 1, 2, 3, 5, 4, 6, 7 with no flex.  If you are testing, be sure to bring your graphing calculator if you have one or one checked out to you and pencils.  Cell phones and smart watches are not allowed in the testing room.  Remember to check in with your first period teacher and report directly to your testing site after checking in.  Also, be sure to get a good night's rest the night before and give your best effort!

  • There will be a joint NHS and MAC Club meeting is today after school at 2:55 in the library. Please make every effort to attend.

  • The Poet’s Club will be meeting in Ms. Slate’s room on Oct. 10th from 3-4.

  • Creative Writing club will be meeting on Wednesday, October 17th from 3-4 in Ms. Banton’s room.

Sports

  • There will be a boys soccer meeting tomorrow after school in the cafeteria at 3:15 for an initial meeting for the year.

  • Congratulations to the Marching Red Devils on capping off homecoming week with a first-place band win at the Franklin County Classic band contest on Saturday. The band won first place in the categories of percussion, general
    effect, marching, and music.
    The marching band practice schedule for this week will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

  • The RHS Choral Dept is presenting a Concert of Music Made in the USA, Tuesday, Oct 9 at 7:00 p.m.  We are singing a special salute to veterans so please invite family members and friends to come and be honored. We are also selling VA Diner peanut products through Oct 11th.  Please see Mrs. Poindexter or a chorus student to place an order.

  • Participate in Grit Challenges all this week!   Challenges will be passed out during flex.  Turn in a correct answer during lunch and earn points for your house.

  • The kindness challenge of the week is to bring in new socks for socktober. The socks will be donated to Center of Hope homeless shelter in Lynchburg.  Each flex family will compete to collect the most NEW socks.

  • On Oct. 7Th FCA will be having an event… FIELDS OF FAITH from 6-8 at BHS.

  • Softball conditioning will be Monday from 6-7:30. It is open to 6th – 12th grade.
  • The Competition Cheerleading team will be competing this weekend on Saturday at William Byrd High School. Tickets are $10. Opening Ceremonies will begin at 12:55 and Rustburg will compete at 2:15! We hope to see you there!

  • Congratulations to the Marching Red Devils on their competition performance on Saturday at Stuarts Draft High School.  The band won 3rd place in flags and drum line, 1st place in the music and general effect categories and won 1st place band in class A out of seven bands in that class.  We are proud of you Marching Red Devils!

Guidance

  • Attention 10th, 11th and 12th graders:  There is an SAT prep session today from 6th through 7th period in the Conference room.  If you didn't sign up, you are still welcome to attend.  Check in with your teacher 6th period before you come.

  • Just a reminder for 11th and 12th graders:  There is a College Admissions Information session tonight in the library starting at 6pm.  A college admissions representative will be the presenter.

  • There is another SAT prep session at the Tech Center on Saturday, September 22 from 8:30am to 10:30 am.  You must sign up in the Counseling Office by this Wednesday if you want to attend.

  • Attention seniors: On October 10, RHS will be offering a free SAT. Please refer to your email from Mrs. Stevens for more information.

  • 11th graders: today is the last day to sign up for the PSATs. See Mrs. Stevens in the cafeteria during all lunches to sign up.

 

Clubs

  • Anyone interested who did not attend the 2020 France/Spain Trip info session please see Mrs. Cartwright for details.  Enrollment for the trip ends Wednesday, September 12th.

  • Spirit Squad- Have school spirit but not sure how to fully express your love for the school? Come on out to Spirit Squad on Fridays after school in Mr. Murtha’s room right after school till we are either done or you have to leave. Come on out and help us decorate for home games and other club activities.

  • The Robotics club will be meeting on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3-5. Come prepared to breakdown the 2018 Rover Ruckus competition.

 

Sports

  • Fall Condition will start tomorrow on the track at 3:00-4:30. Athletes must have their physicals before they can participate. For more details please Coach Mosley.

  • Attention Seniors:  If you are taking the SATs this fall, there will be a meeting this today, in the auditorium during FLEX.
  • Admissions counselors from Randolph College are visiting Rustburg today during flex in the Conference Room.  Passes for students who signed up to attend the visit will be coming around during 1st period.  Students please remember that you MUST check in with your flex teacher before coming to the visit.
