  • Thursday evening at 6 P.M. RHS will host Hoops for Coop. The faculty will play the girls and boys varsity basketball team to raise money for our custodian Mr. Cooper.  Mr. Cooper will be having back surgery.  The funds from the game will help to raise money to make that his surgery possible.  A two dollar donation will get you into the game.  Come support the faculty, students, and Mr. Cooper!

 

Guidance

  • There will be an SAT prep session at RHS today (November 13) from 6th to 7th period and Friday, November 30th from 3rd through FLEX.  Sign up in the Counseling Office if you are interested.

 

Clubs 

  • There will be a creative writing club meeting on Nov. 14th in Mrs. Banton’s room from 3-4.
  • Poet’s Club will meet in Ms. Slate’s room Nov. 28th. Please bring a poem and snack to share.
  • French Club T-shirts cost $15. Orders are due by Friday, November 16th. Please see Mrs. Cartwright for more information.
  • NHS t-shirt money due to Mrs. Burrell ($11) by Wed., Nov. 14th.  Order will be placed by Nov. 16, so make sure you get the money in by the deadline!  See her before or after school - not during class.
  • The Dance Team will practice today from 3 to 4:30 in the auditorium.

Sports

  • The winter sports break period ends on November 14th.  The boys soccer team has a mandatory fundraising meeting on Thursday, November 15th @ 3:15.  Bring all fundraising packets to the band field at 3:15 for collection.  There will be a conditioning session after the fundraiser meeting so if your physical is on record please come work out.  If you do not have a physical but participated in the fundraiser, you must still attend the meeting to turn in the fundraiser packet; you will not be able to work out with the team until your physical is on file.


Reminders:

  • The Jostens Graduation representatives will be here again this Friday, Nov. 16th during all lunches in the front lobby for make-up graduation orders. This will be the last in school order day. There are allot of seniors who have not placed orders for their cap & gowns and announcements. Extra Graduation Packets are available in the front office or see Jostens on Friday. Deposit requested is $75. No deposit for Cap & Gown orders only.
  • The Jostens class ring representative will be here this Friday, Nov. 16th during all lunches to collect any final class ring balances. All final balances need to be paid with cash or money order or pre-paid with credit card by calling 1-800-JOSTENS. No personal checks will be accepted. NO MONEY will be accepted at the ring dance; so anyone attending the dance needs to pay the remaining balance this Friday. All juniors and seniors are welcome to order a class ring with a $75 deposit.
  • ATTENTION SENIORS: Any senior who has not placed their graduation order may do so during lunch this Friday, Nov. 16th DEPOSIT REQUESTED IS $75.

  • Summer Governor's School applications are now available.  These programs offer a week-long learning opportunity during the summer in the following fields: (Marine Science, Humanities, Engineering, Agriculture, Math/Science/Technology, Medicine and Health Science, Visual and Performing Arts, Foreign Lang. (French, German, Spanish) Latin Academy or Japanese Lang. Academy.)

  • Any sophomore and junior who is interested in the summer governor school program please come see Ms. Vance in the counseling office for applications and more information.

  • All new scholarships have been added to the Junior/Senior website including some for 2 for ALL grade levels.  Check out the website for more details.

  • The flu mist will be given at Rustburg High School Friday November 2,2018 from 8:30-9:30 AM. If you would like a form you may download and print it from the Campbell County School Website, or there is copies in the Main office at the school. Please have the forms turned in today to Nurse Woolfolk.

  • You can still sign-up for the Virginia Technical Institute visit today during flex.  This will be the only day-of sign up we will offer and you MUST sign-up during first period today. VTI offers hands-on training in a variety of fields including electrical, plumbing, heating and air, welding, pipe-fitting, carpentry, masonry, industrial maintenance, and project management.

  • The Jefferson College of Nursing will be visiting on November 12.

  • The next Senior Council meeting will be held today during flex and at 3 pm in Ms. Rierson's room.

  • The Driving Range will be canceled this week.

  • Attention College-Bound Athletes:  The Nationally Acclaimed Program "Guiding the College-Bound Athlete" is coming to Heritage High School tomorrow, October 24 at 7:30 pm.  The program is for athletes and parents grades 8-12.  See the Counseling Office more details.

  •  ODU is coming tomorrow. They offer top rating majors in Health Sciences, Business Management and Marketing, Education, and Psychology.

  • The last day to sign up for the 11/8 ASVAB is this Friday. This is for 11th and 12th grade students only.

  • This nine weeks, we had 203 students on the Honor Roll list who had a GPA between 3.5 and 3.99 and 171 students on the Principal's list who had a 4.0 and above.  Names can be found on the RHS website under School Counseling.

  • The ACT Prep session has been cancel for today.

  • The next Senior Council meeting will be held on Monday, October 29th during flex and at 3 pm in Ms. Rierson's room.

Clubs 

  • The Spanish Club will meet  tomorrow, October 25, after school.  Our exchange students will be sharing presentations about Spain.  Please sign up to bring in food to share with the exchange students.  Sign up sheets will be in Mrs. Ibarra's and Mrs. Solórzano's classrooms.

  • Congratulations to all newly inducted NHS members! New members need to bring their signed pledges to Mrs. Bullington and their $10 dues to Mrs. Burrell by Friday, Oct. 26th.

  • The Varsity football game will be played tonight at 7.

Clubs

  • NHS induction is tonight at 6 pm in the auditorium. 

  • Calling all talkers! Do you like to argue? Do you love telling stories? Is performing your passion? If so, come check out Forensics!  Forensics is a VHSL activity with lots of different opportunities for public speakers. Any students interested in Forensics should come to a short informational meeting during flex in Ms. Rierson's room, D9, tomorrow, October 23. If you are unable to attend, please see Ms. Rierson for information. 

  • The next Poet’s Club meeting will be October 24th.

  • Attention Juniors, if you are interested in helping plan and decorate for Ring Dance, we will be having a meeting Monday after school in the Library.

  • The French Club Halloween party will be tomorrow, October 23rd from 3-4:30 in the conference room. Please see Mrs. Cartwright to sign up and bring a snack to share. We will be wearing costumes!

  • There will be a brief Boys Soccer Meeting on the Band Field at 3:15 for ALL interested boys soccer players.  Even if you do not have a current physical, please come to get fundraiser information.  You must have a current physical in order to participate in the conditioning session.

  • Congratulations to the Marching Red Devils on a undefeated contest season!  The Marching Red Devils competed at Lord Botetourt High School on Saturday.  They won 2nd place in Drumline, Flags, and Drum Major.  The Marching Red Devils won 1st place in Music, Marching, and General Effect and won 1st place in Class A by over 11 points over the 2nd place competitor.  Lastly, the Marching Red Devils won the Grand Champion award by beating all bands in both A & AA classes.  Congratulations to our awesome Marching Red Devils!

  • The Marching Red Devils will have practice on Thursday this week.

  • The Symphonic Band will be giving a Fall performance at Altavista High School tonight at 7:00 pm.  The RHS band will perform some Halloween favorites in costume followed by the Altavista band and together both bands will perform a stirring rendition of "America the Beautiful."  The concert is free and open to the public and begins at 7:00 pm in the Altavista school auditorium.
