  • Rustburg High School Families,

    We have a new security system at Rustburg High School that requires an extra step in keeping our school safe. This new system requires you to scan your driver's license every time you come to the school. Whether you are volunteering,  signing them in tardy, or picking them up early, the system requires you to scan your driver's license. Please start to bring your license in with you each time you visit the school. Thank you for helping keep our students safe.

    • Attention Seniors: Banker Steel is one of the top manufacturing and construction employers in our region.  They are starting a 12-week Welding Apprenticeship Program in January.  Their goal is to find students that want to learn the craft of welding and leave high school with a full-time job. There will be an informational meeting today during 5th period in the library.  Check in with your 5th period teacher before you come.
    • Seniors, if you are applying to Virginia Tech and would like to be considered for a $5,000 Leadership Scholarship through the Honors program please come see Mrs. La Roche.

    • French Honor Society Inductions will take place this evening (Thursday, November 21st) at 6:00 in the library. New and old members are required to attend. New members must pay $10 dues to Mrs. Cartwright before this date.
    • Hoops for Cause is taking place on November 25th, 2019 in the gym. Hoops for Cause starts at 6pm and will end around 8. Tickets will cost $3 or you can bring in 3 canned food items. All proceeds will go to families in need in our community. We hope to see you all there.   
    • Want to get on the court on Monday during hoops for a cause? Sign up in the library to play knock out during half time. Pay five dollars and if you win you get half of the money! 

     
    Sports

    • Tryouts for Basketball Cheerleading will be held on Friday, November 22nd from 3:15 - 5:00. If you are interested in trying out, please stop by and see Ms. Mitchell for more information. In order to tryout you must have a valid physical. 
    • Boys Soccer conditioning will be after school today from 3:30 – 5:00 PM.  We will also have it on Monday after school as well. 

    Reminders:

    • Yearbooks are now on sale through December 2nd. They are $50.00 each. Order forms are in the main office. Please turn in money and order forms to Mrs. Carr.
    • Seniors who are interested in purchasing a Congratulations Advertisement to be placed in the yearbook, the deadline is December 2nd.
    • Club picture day will be this Friday.
    • The Jostens class ring representative will be here this Friday, Nov. 22nd during all lunches to collect for class ring balances. Final balances must be paid during lunch with cash or money order as (No Personal Checks) will be accepted. No money will be exchanged at the dance. All class rings will be delivered at the ring dance on Saturday. Students can also call 1-800-JOSTENS to pay with credit or debit card from 9:00am-8:00pm before Friday.

    • November 16th: State Volleyball Quarterfinals @RHS vs Hidden Valley. @ 6:00. Doors open at 5:00 and the cost is $10.
    • Good luck to the girls Volleyball team tomorrow.  Please come out and support them and the theme will be a "WHITE OUT" theme. The first 30 students to arrive will get a door prize.
